In 1969 Richard Skotak (Broker) started The Skotak Company, a commercial real estate brokerage located across from the Galleria in Houston. In 1997 the company moved its headquarters to Lexington Avenue between Greenbriar and Shepherd and in 1999 Richard expanded the company into the realm of residential real estate. In November of 1999 Silver Star Realty was chosen as the new name for the company. The name was not the only thing that changed though, Silver Star Realty decided to leap into the 21st century by providing full service real estate service with low fees to both sellers and buyers. The emergence of the internet brought new opportunities to both the general public and to real estate professionals and Silver Star Realty recognized those opportunities. Silver Star Realty prides itself on its innovative marketing, low fees, personal service, award winning web site, and the integrity of its agents. In July of 2003, Silver Star Realty joined the ERA franchise family to help tool its growing needs and better serve its clients. ERA Silver Star Realty is still a family owned business. In 2006 ERA Silver Star Realty was named as one of the 5 most dependable real estate agencies in Texas by "Texas Monthly" magazine. In January of 2007, ERA Silver Star Realty acquired BayStar Real Estate in La Porte and made it a branch office.
